Unlike most beauty trends that come and go, glowing, healthy skin is timeless. But, whilst some people appear to be blessed with flawless skin no matter what, others just aren’t so lucky. The good news is that regardless of what your complexion looks like right now, there’s always something that you can do to improve it. There are so many things that affect your skin, and plenty that do so in a positive way. Starting with giving your skin the care and attention that it needs, we’ve put together some essentials for healthy, glowing skin.
1. Improve Your Diet:
The food that you eat doesn’t just have an effect on your waistline. If you’re eating a lot of processed food, unhealthy fats, dairy products, sugar and salt, this can also have a negative impact on your skin. Improve your diet to include plenty of whole grains, lean meats, protein, healthy fats and oils, and omega-3s; not only will you feel better and have a great figure, your skin will also thank you for these changes. Omega-3 is especially important; it’s commonly found in oily fish or if it’s easier, you can take it in supplement form.
2. Stay Hydrated:
Dehydration can really take its toll on your skin. If you’re not drinking enough water, you’ll start to feel tired and sluggish, and your skin will feel the same. Since your body is made up of around 60% water, and your skin is the largest organ in your body, drinking plenty of h2o is essential for keeping your skin in perfect condition. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try infusing it with fruit to make it easier to drink and provide your skin with essential vitamins and antioxidants in the meantime.
3. Indulge in a Skin Treatment:
There are plenty of great facial and other skin treatment options that you could treat yourself to, leaving your skin looking and feeling a million dollars. Check out chemical peels, which are ideal to improve complexion issues such as hyperpigmentation, aging skin, and acne. Or, consider one of the many facial peel options such as a charcoal, cucumber or aloe vera mask. You can even get facial treatments to do at home if having it done by a professional isn’t in your budget right now.
4. Clean Your Makeup Brushes:
Last but not least, if you wear a lot of makeup then simply cleaning your brushes and sponges regularly will lead to seeing a massive difference in your skin. Each time you use your makeup tools, they’re collecting dead skin cells from your face and accumulating dust when they’re sitting in your makeup bag. Then, when you come to apply your makeup next, you’re brushing all that back onto your skin! So, clean your brushes regularly with a good brush cleaner. Not only will this help them last longer, but you’ll also avoid nasty blocked pores and blackheads.
Looking after your skin is important for both your health and your appearance. If you enjoyed these tips, we’d love to hear from you in the comments!
