If you want to spend a lot of time on the beach, or be able to wear fewer clothes, you should do whatever you can to get your body in tip-top shape. If you’re not looking to get ripped but you want your body to be perfect for the summer season, there are some things you can do no matter how much of an athlete you are. We have singled out our top 6 ways to get your summer body ready.
Create 15-Minute Yoga Routine
An early morning yoga routine is something you might find quite helpful if you’re looking to own your bikini during the summer. Not only will yoga help you stay in better shape but it will also provide you with more energy you can later use on working out. A great thing about it is that it doesn’t take much time at all. In fact, a simple 15-minute yoga routine might be exactly what you need. Just make sure you choose some simple yoga poses at the beginning and later switch to more advanced ones.
Have Your Meals Early in the Day
If you want to lose some weight before the summer season starts, you should try to have all of your meals early in the day. Recent studies have confirmed that people who have their biggest meals early in the day, tend to weigh less than the people who eat the same amount of calories later in the day. So if you want to be skinnier, you should make sure you have your breakfast and lunch before 3 p.m. and keep your dinner as light as possible.
Drink Plenty of Water
Another thing many people do is ruin their perfectly balanced diets with super sugary drinks. It’s important to realize that some of these pack the same amount of calories you’d have in a light meal. Instead of drinking these, you should increase your water intake while you’re preparing your body for hot weather. Studies have shown that by drinking water you burn more calories. This is known as resting energy expenditure. Not only this but, drinking plenty of water will also reduce your appetite.
Target the Right Muscles
Another thing you should do is target the right muscles in your body while you’re working out. Your workout choice will have a strong impact on how your body will look like once the summer stats. Workouts, such as squats and lunges, are perfect as they target the biggest muscles in your body and help you burn larger amounts of calories. Also, if you intend to work out at home, you can get small exercise bikes and other fitness equipment that will help you (and your friends, maybe?) target the right muscles.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleeping in isn’t something that will make you fat. In fact, recent studies have shown that by sleeping more you’ll actually be able to control how much impact your genes have on your weight. Unless you get at least 9 hours of sleep every night, you’re allowing your genes to contribute to how much you weigh. That’s why it’s always a great idea to go to bed a few hours earlier than usual. If you’re having troubles falling asleep, turning off all of your appliances one hour before bedtime might help.
Don’t Forget to Stretch
An injury you could’ve easily avoided is one of the things that can sideline your quest for a perfect summer body. Many people tend to forget how stretching before a training session is important, no matter if they’ve opted for some low-impact workouts. While you’re working out, you can easily overuse your muscles which can lead to serious pains and aches. So in order to avoid this, you should establish a simple stretching routine. Make sure you devote at least 30 seconds to each stretch.
Remember that each body is different, and that it is up to you to find the right regime for yourself. Give all of these things a try and you’re guaranteed to be in perfect shape once it’s time to hit some of the Australia’s most beautiful beaches.
